Terms of use for the indicative screen
These terms apply to the free indicative screening service on this site, provided by Hazardous Waste Management Ltd (registered in England No. 06821901), part of HWM Group. By uploading a report you accept them. They are a working set of terms that will be reviewed by our legal advisers.
What the screen is
The screen is an indicative assessment produced from the laboratory data you supply, following Technical Guidance WM3 (1st Edition v1.2.GB), and reviewed by a competent chemist before it is sent. It is provided to help you plan.
What the screen is not
- It is not a waste classification. The duty to classify waste, and the duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2005, remain with the waste producer and holder.
- It is not an acceptance decision. Acceptance of any material at any facility, including facilities operated by HWM Group, is a separate decision for the receiving facility against its own permit and acceptance criteria.
- It does not assess inert status or landfill acceptance, which need Waste Acceptance Criteria testing that is not part of the screen.
- It relies entirely on the data you supply. Where analysis is missing, the screen treats substances as potentially present and says so; it cannot detect contamination that was not tested for.
Charges
The indicative screen is free. Treatment, disposal, haulage and any confirmatory sampling or independent classification are quoted separately and are subject to a written quotation and acceptance.
Your responsibilities
You confirm that you are entitled to share the documents you upload, and that they do not contain information you are not permitted to disclose. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for your own compliance with waste law.
Liability
Because the screen is free and indicative, we accept no liability for any loss arising from reliance on it, except where liability cannot be excluded by law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
We may update these terms and the service from time to time. The version in force is the one on this page when you upload.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
